Col Palomer - Baillestavy. 13 km Hiking trail

Its a nice 13 km circular trek. You start in Col de Palomer (Height 1222m) with nice views on the Canigou mountain. Than a steep downhill in the southern (lower)trail in the map below, brings you to the village Baillestavy (Height 625m) which has a nice Fort and two little old bridges. The village has a lower part called La Forgue (the Forge) with a little coffee shop, where you can rest drink coffee / beer. Note that you will probably arrive to the area of the fort which is much higher than the coffee house. There is a narrow steep trail going down in the middle of the village directly to the coffee house via an old bridge.

From the village there is a different return trail going up.

If you are with two cars, there is an option to leave one car down in Baillestavy and to walk only one direction.

Most of the walk is in a shaded wood crossing little streams, only the last part of the way back is in an open terrain so in a sunny day start very early and you will have to protect yourself.

Its not a “walk-on-the-park” trek. Its a medium level trek.
